Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and a password. All of this data is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. We do not operate a server-side database, which means your account data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it. Portfolio positions and watchlist tickers are also stored in localStorage.

2. Cookies

Equity.Finance does not set any tracking cookies. The only storage mechanism we use is browser localStorage for your account and preferences. Next.js may set minimal functional cookies for routing — these contain no personal information.

3. Third-party data

Market data is fetched from Yahoo Finance via server-side API routes. These requests are made from our Vercel deployment, not from your browser. Your IP address is never sent to Yahoo Finance or any other data provider through our platform. We do not share any user information with third parties.

4. Analytics

We currently do not use any analytics, tracking scripts, or telemetry on the site. No Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Hotjar. This may change in the future, and if it does, this policy will be updated and we will use privacy-respecting tools only.

5. Data retention

Since all data is stored in your browser's localStorage, you have full control over it. Clearing your browser data or using incognito mode will remove all account information. We have no server-side records to retain or delete.

6. Your rights under GDPR

As a Netherlands-based service, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (stored in your browser — you already have it)
  • Rectify inaccurate data (edit your account locally)
  • Erase your data (clear localStorage or sign out)
  • Object to processing (we do not process data server-side)
  • Data portability (your data is already on your device)
